Centuries old love story of Bastar’s Jitku Mitku has been immortalised through this sculptures. People worship them and believe that worshipping them fulfil the desire.
According to the story Mitki was an only sister of seven brothers who belonged to Gond family in Vishrampur of bastar. Her brother’s brought Jitku to their house and Mitki fell in love with him. Mitki’s brothers were building dam to prevent sewerage water flow near their village. They worked hard by day but it washed away during night. They dreamt that their kuldevi was demanding sacrifice so they sacrificed Jitku. On hearing this Mitki gave up her life.
